CONVERSATION ROOM SNEAK PEAK
Do you happen to have a formal dining room that you only occasionally use? Well, the trend now is to put those rooms to better use…Introducing the CONVERSATION Room!
We recently moved from the midwest to the “hot” at the time, Austin, Texas market. This was back in the summer of 2021 and it was a seller’s market so much so that people were on average bidding fifty thousand dollars over the asking price. My husband and I put bids on no less than twenty homes when it became abundantly apparent that we were getting a fixer-upper.
The home we finally got had a small formal dining room right off the entryway that we didn’t need. ( Now, mind you the before picture is entirely misleading) It was, after all, painted a muted beige ceilings and all. I mean the entire house, save for the room across the hall which you can see was painted a bright yellow with a muted beige ceiling.
I figured the best thing to do was to convert the dining room into a conversation room!
Conversation Rooms have grown in popularity over the past several years. They’re a great place to shoot the breeze with your guests while enjoying a libation or two. At least that’s my bougie definition!
Now please understand this is a work in progress, and is by no means the finished product at all. But I wanted to share with you all how I transformed the room and give you a little inspiration to make your own Bougie-inspired rooms.
Find what inspires you!
That is by far the most important step. You want your conversation room to Inspire conversation. So, it’s important to surround yourself with elements and pieces that will do the job.
I love deep blues, golds, depth, and beautiful things. Speaking of beautiful things, I love flowers, not just any flower-striking ones.
So, when I came across this flower-inspired pendant, that became the anchor/inspiration for the room. I wanted to showcase the jewel I had found in that pendant and opted to paint the ceiling and vent a show-stopping metallic gold!
So, when it came down to selecting a color for the walls, I was struck by the deep vibrant hue of Sherwin Williams Naval. I knew that I wanted to eventually add wainscotting so I opted to paint the bottom half a stark white in a satin finish.
